Pink Saturday

This is my first "Pink Saturday"and I am so excited! Thank you to Beverly at "How Sweet the Sound" for including me. For those of you who don't know me I collect Flying Pigs! Pigs with wings, angel pigs....whatever. "Ad astra per alia porci" (to the stars on the wings of a pig) by John Steinbeck is a quote I just found and I love it! "When pigs fly" is a way of saying that something will never happen. That is why I love flying pigs. They inspire me to prove anything is possible. This particular pig was my great aunts. She had it for years before I even began collecting them and I never saw it until she passed away. It was on a 20 foot tall poll in her beautiful garden. I inherited it from her and it is now one of my favorites. When I got it, it was a sickly gray color but the wings were still the silvery white you see above. I painted it a fresh, happy pink color and everyone thought I was crazy when I put it into my green, red and yellow living room, but I think she is perfect. She sits on top of the TV cabinet and is quite the conversation starter. The sign was a gift from my mom and is over my fireplace. I am sure I will share many more of my 100 plus flying pigs over the course of my blog but this is one of the best! Enjoy the other blogs and I will see you next post! Love Jenny

Las Vegas

Okay, who but a junker goes to Las Vegas and can't wait to go to an antique shop? It was fun, but not as great as they make it out to be on their website. I got some good jewelry and some cute linen hand towels but a lot of the items were "collectables", new Coke bottles, new Nascar stuff, not my cup of tea. The towels are already in the shop and the jewelry is in various stages of assembly. Here is a fun shot of the casino chips that were EVERYWHERE ! It was pretty neat to look at the old Tropicana ones and Lady Luck ones but I held back and didn't buy any. Maybe next time. And there will be a next time!! I took waaaaay to many pictures in Vegas but here are some fun ones!! If you ever get the chance to go......BRING LOTS OF MONEY. Nothing like a four dollar diet coke 10 oz bottle!! We walked the entire strip and had so much fun! Nothing like walking into the Chanel store and being handed a glass of champagne and a plate of cookies! Soooo Fun!!

First Post

Okay, here goes!! This is my first post! I have been lurking on blogs for a while now and think I might be able to do this and make some new friends! I am a stay at home mom to a wonderful four year old who is a little politician in the making. He has never met a person he didn't like. I work at my mom's antique shop on the weekends for some adult interaction and some spending money to support my antiquing/junking habit. I am also the new CEO of my own jewelry line that was just picked up by a distributer in NC!!! WoooHooo!!! I am so excited and busy, so I decided I did not have enough to do and wanted to start my own blog! HAHAHAHA!! I hope I have something fun to say and that you guys will enjoy reading me.....
