Pink Saturday!

I was so excited when I got home from the hospital

last week after all the yuck going on with mom and this box was waiting for me.

This happy little Easter Bunny tag was there when I opened the flaps!

And this little lovely was inside!

Thank you to everyone asking about Mom!

She is at home and on the mend, but still in a lot of pain!

I have been reading her all your comments since she can't make it into her computer room yet and she wants me to say, "Thank You!" from her as well!

Thank you!

Miss Anna of Chickens in the Basement

has been and is

such a great friend to Mom and I!

She hung out at the hospital with mom while I worked the shop,

or worked the shop while I hung out at the hospital with mom!

Between Anna and Sam (one of our dealers)

and Gary and Teresa (a husband and wife duo)

plus Gail,

our long time employee,

SuzAnna's Antiques has stayed open, and I have kept my sanity,

while Mom is on the mend.

There are no words to thank all these wonderful people,

and all of YOU who have left so many nice comments on my blog or email!

Many have even sent cards to mom and I!

So I will simply say

THANK YOU!

You all mean so much to me.

Mom is on the road to recovery, she gets another cortizone shot

on Monday and she is doing her exercises.

She is having fun looking through magazines and

coming up with new and fun ideas for the shop,

and having me implement them in her absence!

SO if you are in the Raleigh area...head on over! I would love to see you!

Happy Pink Saturday!

It really is a great day, since Mom is doing really well

(read older posts to hear about the nightmare of a week we have had)

and may be able to come home on Sunday!!

She is chomping at the bit to get out of the hospital even though she is still hurting.

Hopefully we won't catch her trying to sneak out!!

Then it will be onto rehab!

Thank you so much for all your sweet comments and cards sent to both mom and I!

I have been very overwhelmed by all of your thoughts and goodwishes this week!

Update two!!

We are doing the happy dance today!

Mom is out of ICU and doing so much better!

Her cheeks are pink (much better color than blue) and she is not as out of it as yesterday!

Her pain is not as bad, but still there and we will know more tomorrow

after she gets her first steroid shot in her back. Thank you so much for all your thoughts, prayers and well wishes!

They have helped!!

Update!

Well, today has been fun....NOT!!!

Mom is okay now, but she scared the craponie out of us this morning.

She had a reaction to the pain medication they gave her and stopped breathing and turned blue.

I was screaming for help and shaking her and yelling "Mom wake up" and she was not responding. I am crying just writing this as I have NEVER BEEN SO SCARED!

They actually had to call a code on her and everything and we almost lost her! She is now in ICU.

She is stable now, but in a lot of pain for the bulging disk as they had to give her something to counter the pain meds that she was reacting too.

Thank you for all your thoughts and prayers....keep them coming. We are not out of the woods yet and I will keep you all updated! Thank goodness for wireless at the hospital.

Reading all your comments helps when I cannot be in there with her!

Now go hug someone for me and tell them you love them.

Interruption

Sorry to be MIA for the last few days!

My mom hurt her back on Friday and I have been busy at the shop.

This morning, Tuesday, she was still in pain, and her leg was going numb, to the point that Dad took her to the emergency room. Turns out she broke a piece of cartilage in her back between two bones and it has been pushing against her nerve endings. The back specialist will see her tomorrow and let us know if she has to have surgery or not!! YUCK! The one good thing is that it has nothing to do with her cancer, just her arthritis. The Doctor actually said it could have happened to any of us!! So we at least can breath easier that the cancer is not doing something funny! If you are new to this blog, my mom has been battling breast cancer for the last 10 years and is doing GREAT!

But she could use all the good thoughts and wishes you can send her way! She hates not being busy and never, ever sits still. I brought her a stack of magazines and a couple of books, but she is already chomping at the bit to go home, even with how much pain she is in.
